Jennifer Hudson turns 27 today. The Oscar-winning actress and singer got her start on American Idol. Undeterred by her lukewarm acceptance on the show, she continued on her path to superstardom, earning the part of Effie in Dreamgirls with Beyoncé Knowles and Eddie Murphy. She later appeared in summer blockbuster Sex and the City with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Chris Noth. Her self-titled debut album will be released later this year.
