I’m looking for pictures of my readers or their favorite GBWs. It could be you, your sister, your mother, a grandmother, aunt, friend, girlfriend, etc. You’re welcome to add a bit of a bio (name, age, country/countries, occupation, etc.). Just make sure the pictures are yours, that the subject is an adult and consents to the use of their image, and of course, make sure they are tasteful, clear and high quality.

xoxo

Corinne Bailey Rae is a talented British musician. She is the fourth British woman to have her first album debut at number one. She won two Music Of Black Origins (MOBO) awards. For her work on Herbie Hancock’s River: The Joni Letters, she shares a Grammy award for Album of the Year. Rae was born and raised in Leeds. She and her sisters were labeled “the little chocolate children” and often faced verbal attacks at schools, being called “Paki,” a racist term for Pakistanis. She responded “but my dad isn’t from Pakistan, he’s from St Kitts—so there!” stating that “at least if you’re going to do it, get it right.”

She started out playing classical violin and singing in the choir. Later, she picked up the electric guitar and was lead singer to an indie all-girl band at 15. While attending the University of Leeds, she worked as a hat check person at a jazz club. It is there that she met her husband and discovered her love of blues and jazz.
